THE JUDO RULES for People with Disabilities

These are the rules that have been put together for all our competitions and are ideally suited and adapted for all disabilities.

These rules at present have been adapted to suit all abilities/disabilities. What we cannot say at present,due to the numbers that participate in our project is that individual disabilities will only fight in their own disability group.

We are recruiting and making good progress on this and I believe that in a couple of years time, we will be able to hold championships for individual disabilities.

BUT FOR NOW, WE HAVE TO MIX SOME DISABILITIES IN COMPETITIONS,WITH THE DIVISIONING PROCESS WE USE, ALL CONTESTS ARE EVENLY MATCHED.

The Right to Participate

For some disabled people, it is important that there are clubs and sessions reserved exclusively for those with specific disabilities. This particulary applies where those who are susceptible to injury need to avoid the risk of accidents, or where people wish to learn a sport in the company of those similarly disabled. It may well be after a short period of time this latter group will wish to join an integrated club, and participate on equal terms with the able bodied.

The Disabilities

There are many disabilities that are or can become eligable to participate in our project.We have no restrictions.

People who participate come from them all-we are in this for INTEGRATION and SPORT for ALL.
